Gurnsey Creek Overview

Gurnsey Creek Campground (aka ‘Gurnsey’) is set in a mixed conifer forest and has single-family and group campsites available. The creek is located across the highway from the campground.

All of the single-family sites are first-come, first-served. Two group sites are reservable. Group site #1 (campsite numbers 31-37) can accommodate up to 56 people and 7 vehicles. Group site #2 (campsite numbers 38-51) can have up to 112 people and 14 vehicles. The group sites can be used by single-family campers if not reserved.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.  Hookups are not available.

Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. A water-filling station (for RVs) is also located at the camp entrance. Cell service is not available in the area.

Gurnsey Creek Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The campground is also about 14 miles west of the town of Chester and Lake Almanor, where boating, fishing, sailing and water skiing are popular activities.
