Area Recreation & Activities

The beach is a popular location for camping, picnicking, surfing, and surf fishing. Visitors enjoy a multi use, coastal trail that runs approximately 4 miles along Half Moon Bay. A short access trail leading to the beach is less than 100 yards from anywhere in the campground. A horse trail parallels Coastside Trail from Roosevelt Beach to Francis Beach. While in the state parks, horses are restricted to the designated horse trail and are not permitted on State beaches.

Just 23 miles to the south is Butano State Park campground. It has 39 campsites in a nice forest of redwood trees.
