Little Basin State Park Campground Big Basin Redwoods State Park California

The campground was destroyed in 2020 by the CZU Lightning Complex wildfires but a multi-year process is under way to rebuild the park facilities and infrastructure. The park is open for day-use but the campground remains closed.

Little Basin State Park Overview

Little Basin (State Park) has 38 campsites and is located within Big Basin Redwoods State Park (California’s oldest). One site has water/electric hookups and the rest are standard.  There are also 12 cabins available.

Much of the area was destroyed in 2020 by the CZU Lightning Complex wildfires but a multi-year process is under way to rebuild the park facilities and infrastructure.

Although many trees were also burned, most of the old-growth redwood trees survived.  New plant life is also vigorously growing, and many animals have returned to the area.

Camground amenities will include water, flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection. There will also be a visitor center, gift shop, amphitheater, mixed-use trails (hiking/horseback riding), playground and sports field. Cell service is fair in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.
