Mad River Campground has 40 campsites on a bluff overlooking the river under a canopy of douglas-fir in Six Rivers National Forest. Several campsites are “riverfront” with trails down to the river. There are also a few (off river) in a beautiful grove of manzanita trees.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 22 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.  Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Cell service is not available in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Fir Cove (5 miles), Bailey Canyon (7 miles) East Fork (37 miles) and Boise Creek (39 miles).  Ruth Lake is also nearby and has a few other campgrounds.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Nearby Ruth Lake also has boating, swimming and other water-related activities.
