Meadow Group Overview

Meadow Group Campground has 2 group sites that are within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument in Angeles National Forest.

The campground is at an elevation of 5,300 feet and campsites are set amid Coulter pines and scrub oaks. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Water is not available. Cell service is also not available in the area.

Group Area 1 can accommodate up to 24 people. It has 3 picnic tables, 3 fire rings and a food storage lockers. Group Area 2 is larger and can accommodate up to 80 people. It also has 10 picnic tables, 10 fire rings and food storage lockers. Both areas of paved parking lots. Vault toilets are shared and closer to group area 2.

Meadow Group – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

The Chilao Visitor Center is located 1.5 miles east of the campground. It offers exhibits and information about the area, campfire programs and excellent bird watching opportunities, including ten species of woodpeckers.

Other campgrounds in the area include Horse Flats, Bandido Group and Chilao.
