Mid Hills Campground California
Mid Hills Overview

Mid Hills Campground is very remote and offers 26 primitive campsites in the Mojave Desert National Preserve. The campground offers extreme solitude, amazing stargazing, and beautiful views of the surrounding desert and Charleston Mountains. The campground has vault toilets, but no water. Most campsites have a table, fire ring and grate.
To reach the campground, you’ll travel on an 8 mile dirt road from Hole In The Wall campground. You’ll drive over a few washes, pass by the Gold Valley Ranch, and eventually arrive at a spooky forest of burned pinion trees. The road is passable for most vehicles, but large RVs or trailers are not recommended.
The Hackberry Fire burned much of the vegetation back in 2005, but there are still some nice pinyon and juniper trees that survived. Campsites 1-8 are in the burned area and sites 9 to 25 have more trees providing shade and shelter. Keep in mind, that an elevation of 5,600 feet, it will be cooler at Mid Hills during the night.
Hole In The Wall Campground is about 8 miles from Mid Hills and has 36 campsites (water available).
