North Fork (Plumas NF) Overview

North Fork Campground (Plumas NF) has 21 campsites set along the North Fork Feather River about 30 miles west of Quincy, CA.  The campground’s setting combines riverfront access with a tranquil forest backdrop, offering visitors a peaceful retreat within one of California’s lesser-crowded national forests.

The area has some fire damage/burned areas around the canyon but the campground was not burned and has many large trees that provide decent shade. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a paved parking spur (ranging from 32 to 60 feet in length), table, lantern post, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill. Campsites 1-5 also have electric hookups.

The seasonal campground is generally open mid May to mid October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers trash collection (dumpsters) and an RV dump station. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host (site #22). Cell service is fair in the area. A full-service store, gas and phone service is available less than 10 miles away.

The campground’s location along the river provides easy access to water-based activities, while nearby trails and forest roads open up opportunities for hiking, fishing, and exploring the rugged terrain of the northern Sierra. Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Queen Lily and Gansner Bar.
