Packsaddle Campground Tahoe National Forest California

Packsaddle Overview

Packsaddle Campground has 14 developed campsites and is surrounded by pine and fir trees with a view of the Sierra Buttes and near alpine lakes. Packer Lake is less than 1/2 mile from the campground.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Some sites have views of the open, wildflower-dotted meadow, while others overlook a ravine and mountain peaks beyond it. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. You can camp up to 14 consecutive days. Up to 2 vehicles and 8 people per site. Check in is 2pm and check out is 12pm.

Amenities include vault toilets and piped water (spigot). The campground also has corrals and space for stock. Overflow parking is available. Cell service is unavailable.

Area Recreation & Activities

A large network of trails is available in the area, including Deer Lake Trail. This 2.9-mile trail is open to hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The Pacific Crest Trail can also be accessed nearby. Many lakes in the area offer fishing. Canoeing and paddeling is available on nearby Packer Lake.

Other campgrounds in the area include Berger, Diablo, Salmon Creek and Sardine Lake.
