Portola Redwoods State Park – Area Recreation

The main attraction are those amazing coastal redwood giants, but you’ll also see some amazing Douglas fir and live oak. The park has one of the tallest redwoods (over 300 feet high) in the Santa Cruz Mountains. There are ten miles of trails that meander over streams, through canyons and meadows. Outdoor activities include camping, hiking, biking, picnicking, swimming, geocaching, and visit the museums and historical sites.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park is another option if you want to camp among the Redwood trees. It has 183 campsites and is about an hour’s drive from Portola.
