Skyline Campground San Bernardino National Forest California

The campground has been closed for the 2026 season due to continued road damage repair work.

Skyline Overview

Skyline is a large group campground in the San Bernardino National Forest and can have up to 25 guests and 9 vehicles. If bringing more than 1 vehicle, additional vehicles may require an extra $8 fee. The max vehicle length is 30ft. This large group site allows for RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. Many pine trees provide plenty of shade for the site. Also, bears frequent the area. It is important to carefully follow garbage disposal and food storage regulations. In addition, Skyline is pet friendly and has fair to good cell service. This campground is open from mid April until mid October.

Amenities at this campground include picnic tables, campfire rings, as well as grills. Also, there are vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. There is a water hookup and a campground host too. The closest dump station options are Serrano Campground (21mi northwest) and Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area (65mi west).

Skyline – Area & Recreation

Some of the more popular activities include hiking, biking, as well as horseback riding. There are some fun trails nearby. The Santa Ana River Trail provides great scenic mountain views. The Wildhorse Creek Trail leads to a remote camping area just south of Wildhorse Meadow. The Aspen Grove Trail leads to a small remnant grove of quaking aspen.

A variety of mountain creeks and streams are nearby. These allow for many opportunities for fishing. Also, there are tons of mountain peaks nearby allowing for beautiful views of the San Bernardino National Forest.

Big Bear Lake and Town are about 20 miles from the campground. A variety of water recreation opportunities, as well as golf, shopping and restaurant options are available here. During the winter, snow sports are very popular here as well. Skyline is also far enough away from Big Bear to retain its peaceful atmosphere and seclusion.

Some other campgrounds you might like are Wild Horse Equestrian, Heart Bar Equestrian Group, Juniper Springs Group, as well as Lobo Group.
