Lake Irwin Overview

Lake Irwin Campground has 32 campsites next to the eastern side of the lake by the Ruby Mountain Range at about 10,000 feet in elevation. This popular campground is usually open mid July to mid September.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grate. There are no hookups. ADA campsites are #2, #12 and #30. Amenities include potable (drinking) water from a hand pump, 3 vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host.  Cell service is not available in the area.

Lake Irwin Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, ATVing, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. You can also canoe, kayak and SUP on the lake. The town of Crested Butte is also about 9 miles away.
