Blue Spring State Park campground has 51 campsites which are in the sand pine scrub. The campground can accommodate tents, trailers, and RV’s(40 feet maximum) and is within walking distance to the spring. Each campsite has a picnic table, water, electricity, and a grill. A dump station is available in the park. Pets are welcome in camping area. Furthermore, Blue Spring State Park also offers the Bedtime Story Camper Lending Library of picture books for campers ages four to nine. Ask the Ranger Station about how to check out a book.
In addition, the park covers more than 2,600 acres, including the largest spring on the St. Johns River. Blue Spring is a Manatee Refuge and winter home to West Indian Manatees. The spring and spring run are closed during Manatee season(mid-November through March). For centuries, the spring area was home to Native Americans. Swimmers, snorkelers, and certified scuba divers with a partner enjoy the springs clear warm water. Also, the river is popular for fishing, canoeing, and boating. Just not swimming with the manatees.
Finally, Blue Spring State Park is open year round to visitors and campers.
