Tipsaw Lake Overview

Tipsaw Lake Campground has 60 campsites and is set in a hardwood/pine forest next to the lake in south-central Indiana’s Hoosier National Forest. The campground offers dozens of single-family, double-family and group campsites. There area also 31 campsites with electric hookups. Most sites are reservable but some are first-come, first-served.

The campground is set up in several loops including Catbrier (single and double sites), Jackpine (single and double sites), Dogwood (single and double sites), Primrose (group) and Goldenrod (group). The single sites can have up to 8 people, double sites up to 16 people and group sites up to 50 people (13 vehicles – up to 35 feet). Dogwood sites 26 and 26, and Jackpine sites 11 and 12 are ‘walk-to’ (tent only). Two picnic shelters are also reservable.

Amenities include water, flush toilets, showers and trash collection. There is also a boat ramp and parking area (both open year-round), and a dump station is located just off-site.

Tipsaw Lake Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes boating (electric motors only), kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. A day-use picnic area is also available and provides access to the swim beach and picnic areas and shelters, as well as the boat ramp. Horseshoe pits and and open areas for games are nearby.

A 5.9-mile trail for hiking and mountain biking runs from the day-use area around the lake. The trail includes scenic overlooks of the lake and valley and traverses a variety of forest types.
