Prairie Island Overview

Prairie Island Campground is located along the banks of the Mississippi River and has about 177 spacious campsites. Most have water & electric hookups. Two of the sites are primitive (tent/hammock). Two cabins are also available to rent. Many campsites are along the shoreline and many others have views of the water.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Overflow parking is available and cell service is good. Campground amenities include drinking water, restrooms (flush toilets), showers, trash recycling and a dump station. There’s also a swim beach, dock, boat launch ramp, basketball area, community pavilion, picnic area and office/camp store. A 15-hole disc golf course is also next to the campground.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, water sports, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. A variety of water craft are also available to rent.

You might also like Frontenac State Park (also along the Mississippi River).
