St. Mary Campground Glacier National Park Montana

St. Mary Overview

St. Mary campground is the largest campground (151 single-family campsites) on the east side of Glacier National Park, approximately one half mile west of the park boundary, near the town of St. Mary.  Group camping is also available.

The campground is generally open early April through October. Campsites are reservable late May through September 1.   Amenities include potable water, flush toilets, showers (in Loop C), trash collection and a dump station.  There are also amphitheater, restaurants, gift shops, camp store, gas and a grocery store nearby. Cell service is good in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking spur (ranging in length from 20 to 40 feet), table, fire ring and grate. Hookups are not available.  Generators are allowed only in Loops B & C. Generators are prohibited in Loop A.

St. Mary – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes backpacking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, kayaking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.  Activities such as interpretive programs, book sales, and shuttle service tours are also located at the nearby St. Mary Visitor Center.
