Covered Bridge Campground White Mountain National Forest New Hampshire

Covered Bridge Overview

Covered Bridge campground has 49 campsites in a forested area next to the Swift River and along one of the most scenic droves in New Hampshire. There are 29 reservable sites and the rest are first-come, first-served.

The seasonal campground is usually open mid May to mid October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (25ft. to 35ft.). Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Firewood can be purchased from the friendly camp host. Cell service is not available.

Covered Bridge Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

The adjacent Kancamagus Highway, referred to locally as “the Kanc,” is a National Scenic Byway that offers some of the best fall foliage viewing in New England. The 26.5-mile road connects the towns of Lincoln to the west and Conway to the east, and takes about one hour to drive from end to end.

Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, fishing and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also good with opportunities to see moose, white-tailed deer and black bear. Almost 200 species of birds, including the rare Bicknell’s Thrush, live in the forest.

Blackberry Crossing campground is also nearby.
