Middle Fork (OR) Overview
Middle Fork Campground has 10 (first-come first-served) campsites just off Highway 20 next to the Middle Fork John Day River in Malheur National Forest.
The seasonal campground is usually open mid May to mid October. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available. Cell service is also not available.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Hookups are not available.
Middle Fork Campground – Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, kayaking, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing.
Deerhorn Campground is another camping option (1.5 miles), and Bates State Park is about 6.5 miles south of Highway 20.
