Lewis Lake Overview

Lewis Lake Campground in Yellowstone National Park has 84 single-family campsites in a forested area on the southeast shore of Lewis Lake. It is also about 12 miles from the park’s south entrance.

The campground is generally open mid June to late October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Campsites are on the small side with only a few pull-through sites available. Tents, trailers and RVs up to 25 feet are okay.  Many of the sites require a short walk from the parking area to the (tent) camping area. Each campsite also has a parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill.  Hookups are not available.

Lewis Lake Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Yellowstone National Park is world famous for its amazing geology, scenery, rivers, wildlife, fishing and those amazing geysers!  Outdoor recreation includes hiking, biking, camping, wildlife viewing, photography, backpacking, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking and much more. A boat ramp is also available at the lake. Canoes, kayaks, and motor boats are allowed on Lewis Lake. The park requires a boat permit and park staff will perform an aquatic invasive species inspection.

There are also 11 other campgrounds in Yellowstone National park including: Bridge Bay, Canyon, Grant Village, Indian Creek, Madison, Mammoth, Norris, Pebble Creek, Slough Creek, Tower Fall, and Fishing Bridge RV Park.
