The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a bit of a drive, but it does offer less crowds, incredible view and miles of hiking trails.  You can also hike the North Kaibab Trail 14.2 miles down to the bottom and stay at Phantom Ranch or Bright Angel Campground. Backcountry Permits are required for overnight hiking/camping in the Grand Canyon.

  1. We tent-camped at the North Rim about 5 years ago. Really well maintained camp pads. Some sites had gorgeous views of the canyon. You could walk to the Lodge for a drink and/or meal. One of our favorite campsites.
