Inyo National Forest Campgrounds Closed Due To Extreme Fire Danger

All campgrounds (and trails) in the Inyo National Forest (California) are closed as of 9/5/2020 at 5 P.M. until at least September 14, 2020 under a Forest Closure Order due to extreme fire danger. This temporary Forest closure will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change. You can check the latest/current status of the campgrounds at the Inyo National Forest web page.

Update – the USDA Forest Service has temporarily closed all national forests in California as a result of the extreme fire conditions:
Eldorado National Forest
Tahoe National Forest
Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
Mendocino National Forest
Plumas National Forest
Lassen National Forest
Shasta Trinity National Forest
Six Rivers National Forest
Klamath National Forest
Modoc National Forest

  Hi Denis,
  Just checked and there are no updates as to when the national forests (campgrounds and trails, etc.) in CA will be reopened. Initially the closure would be at least through Sep 14, but I have a feeling (with the very dry conditions and continued fires), it will be extended.

  Fire Restrictions have been lifted. You can have fires in designated campsite fire rings. Most campgrounds are currently closed for the season and many still under snow.
