Joplin Campground Ouachita Lake Arkansas

Joplin Overview

Joplin Campground has 58 campsites (all with electric hookups) and is on a narrow peninsula next to beautiful Lake Ouachita.  A few sites are waterfront and most have nice views of the water and surrounding mountain terrain.

The campground is open early May to late September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, a dump station and trash collection. Cell service is good in the area. There’s also a boat ramp and boat tailer lot.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. In addition to water & electric hookups, each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, lantern post, fire ring and grill. Pad lengths are on the small side. Up to 2 vehicles and 12 people per campsite.

Joplin Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Lake Ouachita is fed from the cool waters of the Ouachita River in central Arkansas. Surrounded by the Ouachita Mountains and National Forest, it’s crystal waters span over 40,000 acres and extend for 30 miles, making it the largest lake completely in the state of Arkansas.

Outdoor recreation includes boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, water sports, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds around or near the lake include Brady Mountain, Denby Point, Crystal Springs, Tompkins Bend and Little Fir.
