Boulder Flat (CA) Campground Stanislaus National Forest California

Boulder Flat (CA) Overview

Boulder Flat Campground 004

Boulder Flat Campground is a scenic, relatively small Forest Service campground in California’s Stanislaus National Forest, high on a ridge over the Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River in the Sierra Nevada. The campground is about 21 miles east of Pinecrest on Highway 108, within the Brightman Recreation Area.

Boulder Flat Campground has 22 spacious campsites, including a double-family site and two walk-to sites.  All sites are first-come first-served. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Most have decent shade from large trees. Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. The parking spurs range in length from about 18 to 24 feet.

The seasonal campground is generally open early June to mid October. Amenities  vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Cell service is not available.

Boulder Flat Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Direct river access is not possible because the campground is about 120 feet up a steep ridge. Campers can access the river at other locations along the highway for fishing, wading and swimming.  Other activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing.

Brightman Flat Campground is a few miles to the east and Cascade Creek Campground is about 10 miles to the west of CA-108.
