Haypress Campground Golden Gate National Recreation Area California

Haypress Overview

Haypress Campground 005

Haypress Campground has 5 single-family sites and 1 group site set on a large grassy area lined by eucalyptus trees in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The 5 single-family tent sites can have up to 4 people and the group site up to 25 people.

Campers will need to park at the Tennessee Valley Trailhead and hike about 1 mile to the campground. The trail is flat and partially paved/partially packed dirt.

The campground is seasonal and usually open early March to late November. Amenities include vault toilets.  Potable (drinking) water is not available and all trash/gear must be packed out. Cell service is not available. Each site also has a table, food storage locker and tent pads.

Haypress Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

The area is known for great hiking, and trails are often populated with hikers regardless of the time of the year. Consider hiking to Tennessee Beach (2 miles), Muir Beach (3.5 miles), historic Battery Townsley (3.5 miles), or Rodeo Beach (4 miles). Wildlife viewing is also good with opportunities to see quail, raptors, deer, coyotes, foxes, bobcats and other creatures.

You might also like Hawk Campground, also in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
