Leavitt Meadows Campground Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest California
Leavitt Meadows Overview
Leavitt Meadows Campground has 17 campsites nestled amidst Jeffrey Pines and aspen alongside the West Walker River at 7,200 feet in elevation. Nearby Leavitt Meadows Trailhead is the starting point for a horse or foot trail along the West Walker River into an area of lake-filled basins. Many climbers also use this trail to approach Tower Peak, which offers both technical climbs and scrambles.
The seasonal campground is generally open mid May to mid September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Cell service is poor in the area. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host. A backpackers parking area ($) is also located within the campground.
Campsites are best suited for tent camping but a few sites are okay for small trailers/RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill.
