Middle Meadows Group Overview

Middle Meadows is a 2 site group campground in the Eldorado National Forest. One of the sites can have up to 25 guests and 9 vehicles. The other site can have up to 50 guests and 15 vehicles. The campground allows RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. The max vehicle length each site can accommodate is 25ft. Cedar, pine, as well as fir trees provide lots of shade for the sites. Bears frequent the area so all food must be in bear-proof containers. Also, there is no cell service. In addition, pets can come. Parking is in the parking lot. You have to walk a short distance to access the group sites. Middle Meadows Group is open from late May to mid October.

Amenities at this campground are picnic tables, campfire circles, as well as grills. Also, there are vault and portable toilets. In addition, there are food lockers, paved parking, and trash collection. There is also a boat ramp available at the Hell Hole Reservoir which is a short drive north. The closest dump station options are at Loon Lake Campground (38mi southwest) and French Meadows Campground (12mi northwest).

Middle Meadows – Area & Recreation

Middle Meadows Group is along the South Fork of Long Canyon Creek. It also has a heavily wooded surrounding. There are many things to do in the area. Some popular activities are sightseeing, bird watching, as well as wildlife viewing. Also, there is swimming, fishing, boating, and other water sports. Hell Hole Reservoir is less than 5 miles from the campground. There is also a swimming hole that is about 0.25 miles just west of the Middle Meadows Campground.

The French Meadows Reservoir is also nearby. It is about 30mins away. South Lake Tahoe is also about 2.5hrs away. Both are great options for a day trip.
