Modesto Reservoir Regional Park Overview
Modesto Reservoir Regional Park is a beautiful place with tons of camping opportunities. Stanislaus County Parks and Recreation manages this park. This park offers over 3,200 acres of land and over 2,800 acres of reservoir. There are a total of 197 campsites in the park. Also, there are many different campgrounds and camping areas. The different campgrounds include loops A, B, C, D, as well as a group site, Baptista Point, Vivian Cove, and Vivian Pines. There are 170 sites at loops A-D. These sites allow for RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. Most of them are full or partial hookup sites too. In addition, they allow for a max of 8 guests and 2 vehicles per site. The max vehicle length ranges from 15ft-35ft. Loop D sites are smaller and have water hookups only. They don’t recommend RVs or trailers at these sites.
The group site can have up to 30 guests as well as 1 vehicle. However, additional vehicles require a $40 nightly fee. The max vehicle length is 30ft. Also, this site is best for tent camping. Baptista Point offers 8 sites. Vivian Cove offers 9 sites. Vivian Pines offers 9 sites. These sites are best for tent camping. They can have up to 8 guests and 2 vehicles. The max vehicle length is 15ft.
Amenities at these campgrounds and the greater Reservoir area include picnic shelters, flush toilets, BBQs, picnic tables, as well as fire pits. Also, there are hot showers and sewage disposal. In addition, there is an archery range as well as a radio control electric airplane field. There are also 2 boat ramps on the lake. Modesto Reservoir Regional Park does not allow pets. Also, cell service is good. Some sites have shade and some don’t. The park is open all year.

There are tons of fun things to do at the park. Popular activities are swimming, fishing, boating, as well as water and jet skiing. There is also hiking, biking, bird watching, waterfowl hunting, and wildlife viewing. In addition, you can take part in RC plane flying and archery. You can find rainbow trout, red-ear sunfish, largemouth bass, channel catfish, as well as bluegill in the lake.
There is also an Annual Egg Hunt. This family-friendly event has crafts, inflatables, as well as food trucks and other fun things. Also, Sacramento is about 2hrs away. San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and San Jose are all about 2.5hrs-3hrs away.
