Gold Lake (OR) Campground Willamette National Forest Oregon

Gold Lake (OR) Overview

Gold Lake Campground Sign

Gold Lake Campground has 15 (first-come, first-served) campsites set in an old-growth forest next to the 100-acre lake and near the Cascade Range crest.  From Willamette Highway you’ll drive about 2 miles on NF-500. Low clearance vehicles can make it but high clearance vehicles are recommended.

The primitive/rustic campground is generally open early June to late October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets, trash collection, a small boat ramp (for non-motorized craft), and a day use area/parking lot. Cell service is not available. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs. Each site has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.  Several of the campsites are adjacent to the lake. A few sites (12, 13, 14 and 21) have a short walk from the parking area. There are also a couple of pull through sites.

Gold Lake Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating (non-motorized), kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing.  The adjacent Gold Lake bog is ideal for viewing deer, elk, and beaver.

The lake is fly-fishing only; please consult the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife regulations for the most up-to-date information.

A historic “Willamette Winged” log shelter exists in the day use area, and provides an overnight place for cross-country skiers during the winter, and a day-use facility during summer.

Other campgrounds in the area include Trapper Creek, Princess Creek and Sunset Cove. You might also like Crescent Lake campground.
