Trapper Creek Campground Deschutes National Forest Oregon

Trapper Creek Overview

Trapper Creek Campground 008

Trapper Creek Campground has 32 spacious campsites set in an old growth forest next to beautiful Odell Lake in the Deschutes National Forest. Trapper Creek also flows by the campground as it enters the lake.

The beautiful campground is generally open mid June to mid October.  Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets, trash collection and a boat ramp. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is poor in the area. A nearby resort on Odell Lake also offers lodging and a general store with camping supplies, coffee, snacks and fishing licenses.

The well-spaced and secluded campsites offer nice privacy. Each can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite has a gravel parking spur (ranging in size from 20 to 40 feet in length), a table, fire ring and grill. Camp roads are paved. Double-family campsites include 20, 21 and 28.

Trapper Creek Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

For anglers, Odell Lake is considered one of the blue giants of the Deschutes National Forest. This large lake has an average depth is 132 feet, which makes it ideal habitat for lake trout and bull trout. Rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and whitefish are also found in the lake.

Other campgrounds in the area include Princess Creek and Sunset Cove. You might also like Gold Lake or Crescent Lake campground. Shelter Cove Resort and Marina is also just down the road.
