Horsfall Campground – Outdoor Recreation & Activities

Horsfall Campground gives visitors easy access to forests, freshwater lakes, towering sand dunes, and the Pacific Ocean. It provides direct access to one of the largest off-highway vehicle riding areas in the Pacific Northwest. Riders can explore miles of open sand, steep dunes, and designated routes that wind through coastal forests. The riding terrain ranges from beginner-friendly areas to massive dunes that challenge experienced drivers. Also, rentals are available in North Bend and Coos Bay.

Horsfall Beach sits just west of the campground. It is perfect for long walks, beachcombing, photography, flying kites, and watching sunsets. Horsfall Lake, Bluebill Lake, and Spirit Lake provide peaceful settings for fishing, paddling, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife viewing. It offers excellent opportunities to enjoy nature away from the busy riding areas. Haynes Inlet and Coos Bay also provide excellent fishing, crabbing, clamming, as well as kayaking opportunities.

For hiking, the Bluebill Lake Trail loops around a quiet coastal lake and passes through forests and wetlands. The Wild Mare Horse Trail travels through the dunes and coastal forest. Horseback riders enjoy this trail.

Coos Bay and North Bend are a short drive away. They have waterfront restaurants, seafood markets, breweries, shopping, museums, and scenic parks. Shore Acres State Park is one of the most beautiful destinations on the Oregon Coast. Visitors come to admire dramatic sandstone cliffs, crashing waves, colorful botanical gardens, and winter storm watching. Also, Cape Arago State Park offers scenic viewpoints, tide pools, and access to quiet beaches. In addition, Sunset Bay State Park features a sandy beach that is ideal for swimming, picnicking, and paddleboarding.

Other campgrounds you might like are Bluebill,  Horsfall Beach, Spinreel, as well as Horsfall Sand Camping. Horsfall Sand Camping lets four-wheel-drive campers stay directly on the dunes.
