Lake Sidney Lanier Overview

Lake Sidney Lanier has over 690 miles of shoreline and is located in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia. It’s also just 50 miles from the Georgia State Capitol of Atlanta. The popular lake is owned and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and has several campgrounds around its shore. There are a total of 76 recreation areas, 10 marinas and over 100 islands on the lake.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, water sports, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.

Directions

From I-985/Buford Take GA Hwy 20 West, from GA 400/Cumming, take Ga Hwy 20 East, to North on Suwanee Dam Road. Go three miles and go left on Buford Dam Road. The Visitor Center is one mile down on the right.
