W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir is a scenic recreation destination located near Wilkesboro in the foothills of northwestern North Carolina. Built on the Yadkin River and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the reservoir was originally constructed for flood control, water supply, and wildlife management. Today, it is one of the region’s premier outdoor recreation areas, offering boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and camping around its 1,475-acre lake and 56 miles of shoreline.
