Bailey Cove Overview
Bailey Cove campground has 7 campsites and is on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Out of the 7 different sites, 5 of them can have up to 8 guests and 1 vehicle. The other 2 sites are double-family and can have up to 12 guests and 2 vehicles.
Bailey Cove allows for RV, trailer, as well as tent camping. The max vehicle length at the sites ranges from 35ft-45ft. Many evergreen and manzanita trees provide tons of shade for the campground and campsites. Also, there is good cell coverage here. Poison oak and bears are frequent in the area. It is important to take proper precautions when adventuring and storing supplies.
Bailey Cove is open year round. However, sites are reservable early July to early May and first-come first served early May to early July. Amenities include potable drinking water, flush toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Cell service is fair in the area. Each site also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill. There is also a day use area that is next to the campground and boat ramp. The day use area has parking, restrooms, picnic tables, and BBQ’s. Also, there is a $17 daily fee to use the boat ramp. The Holiday Harbor offers rentals and a marina. Some close by RV dump stations include Holiday Harbor RV Campground (1mi east), Shasta Lake R.V. Resort (10mi northwest), and the Redding-area RV dump stations (20mi south).
Bailey Cove – Area & Recreation
Shasta-Trinity is the largest national forest in California. It has a diverse landscape encompassing five wilderness areas. Also, it has hundreds of mountain lakes and 6,278 miles of streams and rivers. Mount Shasta, the second-tallest mountain in the Cascade Range, looms in the distance. Some of the more popular activities to do here are hiking, wildlife viewing, as well as mountain biking. The campground provides access to the 3-mile Bailey Cove Trail. This trail hugs the shoreline and is open to both hikers and mountain bikers. Also, Lake Shasta provides the opportunity for all kinds of water sports and activities.
Lake Shasta Caverns are also on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake. Grey Rocks is another name for this area. Daily tours are available at this private facility. The Hirz Mountain Lookout offers panoramic views of Mt. Shasta, Mt. Lassen, and the surrounding area.
Other campgrounds that you might like are Hirz Bay, Dekkas Rock, Moore Creek, Slaughterhouse Island, Antlers, Gregory Creek Group, Nelson Point, as well as Shasta Lake RV Resort.
