Fawn Group Overview

Fawn Campground is a 200 person group campground in the Shasta Trinity National Forest. It is also right next to Trinity Lake. This campground is the most popular group site in the area. It consists of two loops that can accommodate up to 100 guests each. The maximum number of vehicles per loop is 38. Each loop has 19 separate campsites. The sites allow for tent, trailer, as well as RV camping. Trailers and RVs must be no longer than 45ft. There are tons of oaks, Douglas firs, and pine trees that provide plenty of shade. This campground also allows pets. Cell service is very poor. This campground is open from the beginning of May until the end of September.

Amenities at Fawn campground include drinking water, flush toilets, as well as bear proof food lockers. Each campsite also has picnic tables, grills, and spurs. In addition, a boat ramp and a marina are 1 mile away. The Trinity Lake Marina offers a variety of rentals. The closest dump stations are Trinity Lake KOA Holiday (16mi northeast) and Trinity Alps RV Park (15mi southwest).

Fawn – Area & Recreation

Fawn Campground offers plenty to do and see. There are tons of mountain lakes, streams, as well as rivers to enjoy. Trinity Lake makes many water sports and activities possible. Popular species to fish for are small and largemouth bass, as well as rainbow and brown trout. Stoney Creek Swim Area is close by which is a great spot to swim and relax on the beach. It also has a picnic area. Hiking is also a popular thing to do with plenty of trailheads close by.

Weaverville is also a great town to visit. It is only a 20min drive away from the campground. It is also on the National Register of Historic Places. This town offers restaurants, shopping, as well as self guided walking tours. Taking a trip up to Mt. Shasta is also a great idea. It is about 2hrs away and is the 2nd tallest mountain in the Cascade Mountain Range.

Other campgrounds that you might like are Clark Springs, Tannery Gulch, Minersville, Hayward Flat, and Alpine View.
