Fir Top Campground Tahoe National Forest California

Fir Top Overview

Fir Top Campground has 12 spacious campsites in a wooded setting next to beautiful Jackson Meadow Reservoir, in the Tahoe National Forest.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a paved parking spur (ranging in length from 35 to 45 feet), table, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill.

The campground is generally open mid June to mid October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets and trash collection.  Nearby you’ll find a day use / picnic area and boat ramp. Cell service is not available in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Woodcamp, Silvertip Group, East Meadow, Pass Creek, Jackson Point (Boat-In) and Little Laiser Meadow Horse Camp.

Fir Top Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

The adjacent 1,000-acre Jackson Meadow Reservoir offers excellent opportunities for boating, kayaking, water sports, swimming and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow and brown trout.  A designated swim beach is also nearby. The lake is an irrigation source, meaning its level will drop as the season progresses.

A portion of the Pacific Crest Trail meanders along the east side of the lake. It is open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding and provides opportunities for viewing wildlife. Hunting is also popular activities in the surrounding area. The area is also scenic in late spring and summer when wildflowers bloom in the meadows.
