Ivans Overview

Ivans Campground has 21 campsites (with electric hookups) and is located along the Des Moines River right below the dam of Lake Red Rock. A hardwood forest provides nice shade to most campsites.

The seasonal campground is generally open mid April to early October. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets and trash collection (dumpsters). Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is poor in the area.  A boat ramp and RV dump station are located across the river at Howell Station. The Red Rock Marina (next to lake) also has a ramp and watercraft rentals.

Ivans Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Lake Red Rock offers excellent boating, water skiing, wakeboarding and swimming opportunities. Miles of water trails for kayakers and canoeists are designated along the shoreline. Anglers will find crappie, walleye, largemouth and striped bass, channel and flathead catfish, northern pike and bluegill. Several miles of trails for hiking and biking are in the area. The 15 mile paved Volksweg Trail stretches west from Pella to the Des Moines River and the the Corova Recreation Area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Elk Rock State Park, Roberts Creek Park, Wallashuck, North Overlook and Howell Station.
