Buckboard Crossing Overview

Buckboard Crossing Campground sits along the scenic shores of Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Ashley National Forest, offering stunning water views and easy access to boating, fishing, and water recreation. The campground features 66 sites (most reservable) nestled among juniper, pinyon pine, and sagebrush, providing a mix of sun and cover. Many campsites also overlook the reservoir, making it a popular spot for anglers, paddlers, and families looking for a classic lakeside camping experience.

The high-desert campground is generally open mid May to late September. Individual campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Group camping is also available.  Each site has a parking spur, table, shade/wind structure, fire ring and grill. There are 8 sites with electric hookups in loop A.

Campground amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and a dump station. The Buckboard Marina is also nearby and has a store, boat ramp, boat trailer parking, boat slips and fish-cleaning station. Full hookup RV sites are also available at the marina. Cell service is poor.

Buckboard Crossing Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking, stargazing and picnicking. Wildlife is also common in the area, with opportunities to see pronghorn, mule deer, osprey, and bald eagles. Scenic drives with panoramic overlooks of the gorge are also popular.

Other campgrounds in the area include Cedar Springs, Deer Run and Dripping Springs.
