Gold Bar Recreation Site Overview

Gold Bar Recreation Site Campground has 9 single-family campsites and is located right along the Colorado River near Moab, UT. Group Camping is also available next door.

The campground is open year-round and all campsites are first-come, first-serve.  Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. A boat ramp is also next to the campground and provides access to the Colorado River. Cell service is not available in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a gravel parking area (up to 30 feet), table, fire ring and grill.

Gold Bar Recreation Site – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, fishing, picnicking, stargazing, mountain biking, OHV trail riding and wildlife viewing.  The Colorado River is about 200 feet from the campground and you’ll need to walk through brush to get to the water.  The Corona Arch Trailhead is also just across the street from the campground.

Rock petroglyphs can be viewed along the drive to the recreation site and the nearby Poison Spider Mesa offers an interpretive dinosaur track trail.

Other campgrounds in the area include Williams Bottom, Jaycee Park and Kings Bottom.

Both Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are in the general area.
