Marcus Island Overview

Marcus Island Campground is set in a forested area on a peninsula of Lake Roosevelt (Columbia River) and next to the town of Marcus, WA.  The popular campground has 25 reservable campsites and 1 walk to / boat to site. Hookups are not available.

The campground is generally open early January to late September. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. A small boat launch is also available when the lake water is high enough. Potable (drinking) water is not available. Cell service is good.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur (ranging in length from 25 to 50 feet), table, fire ring and grill.

Marcus Island Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, water sports, hiking, biking and picnicking. The area is also abundant with wildlife, including moose, elk, deer and bald eagles.

The area is rich in the history of American Indians as well as the fur trade; campers can learn more at a park visitor center in Kettle Falls.

The historic St. Paul’s Mission, which is run by the National Park Service, is located about ten miles from campground. Also in the area are Fort Colville and the Hudson Bay Company Post on the Upper Columbia.

Other campgrounds in the area include Kettle Falls, Snag Cove, Kamloops Island, Haag Cove and Locust Grove Group.
