Snag Cove Campground Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area Washington

Snag Cove Overview

Snag Cove Campground has 9 campsites in an isolated and beautiful area on the western side of Lake Roosevelt (Columbia River). Eight out of the nine sites are right on the lake shore.

The campground is generally open early January through September. Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. There’s also a nice boat launch and courtesy dock on one side of the campground. Trailer parking is available. Potable (drinking) water is not available. Cell service is poor in the area.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Parking spurs range in size from 23 to 40 feet.

Snag Cove Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, water sports, hiking, biking, hunting and picnicking. The area is also abundant with wildlife, including moose, elk, deer and bald eagles.

The area is rich in the history of American Indians as well as the fur trade; campers can learn more at a park visitor center in Kettle Falls

The historic St. Paul’s Mission, which is run by the National Park Service, is located about 11 miles from campground. Also in the area are Fort Colville and the Hudson Bay Company Post on the Upper Columbia.

Other campgrounds in the area include Marcus Island, Kettle Falls, Kamloops Island, Haag Cove and Locust Grove Group.
