Whitehorse Overview

Whitehorse Campground Sign

Whitehorse Campground has 19 campsites set among towering pines and next to Bucks Creek in the Plumas National Forest.  Bucks Lake is also less than a mile from the campground.

There are 16 standard (non-electric) sites and equestrian (non-electric) campsites. Sites 1-7 are first-come, first-served and the rest are reservable. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a paved parking spur (ranging in size from 25 to 40 feet), table, food storage locker (bear box), fire ring and grill.

The campground is generally open mid May to late September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. Cell service is not available. Nearby Bucks Lake Lodge has a bar, restaurant and store offering fishing supplies and groceries.

Whitehorse Campground – Area Recreation & Activities

Its location near Bucks Lake makes it a popular spot for fishing, boating, swimming, and kayaking, while nearby trails invite hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders to explore the surrounding wilderness. Wildlife viewing are stargazing are also good in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Grizzly Creek, Haskins Valley, Lower Bucks Lake, Sundew, Hutchins Group and Mill Creek.
